Play Date Continued...

Play Date

Isaiah had his first play date last night. Randy, Laura, and Ellie came over to our house to visit and play. We hadn't seen the three of them since Ellie was 4 or 5 days old. Ellie was born September 9th and Isaiah was born September 19th. These cousins are only 10 days apart in age. They are really close to the same size.

It was the first time they met and played. They were so cute and we watched their every moves. Speaking of, I thought Isaiah was a mover and a shaker, but compared to Ellie he is one laid back baby. Ellie didn't stop rolling and moving and sitting and standing from the time they arrived until her mommy and daddy put her in her car seat to go home. Laura said, "she doesn't bend at the waist!" It's true. Ellie wanted to be standing (with help) or laying down so she could roll wherever her little heart desired. For the most part, Isaiah was content just watching Ellie scoot around. I wouldn't be surprised if Ellie is walking at the next play date!

So, the cousins met

And checked each other out

Isaiah decided he needed a second look

Then, Ellie had to see where all the commotion was coming from

They decided to hold hands

Isaiah discovered that Ellie's hand is just as tasty as his own

We put them both on Isaiah's play mat and they spent some time playing and checking each other out...

We had such a great time! Thanks Randy and Laura for bringing pizza, brownies, and your own pop! Wow, we don't sound like very good hosts! Can't wait for the next play date.

Bath Time Snack

Isaiah really enjoys taking baths. I used to really enjoy giving him baths, but now he squirms and wiggles so much that it's work to give him a bath. Here's some pics of him fresh out of his bath enjoying a little snack.

Baby Isaiah

Here's just a couple of pics of Isaiah. He's getting to be such a big boy! The one of him with his book is one that tugs a little on my heartstrings. I love books and I hope he enjoys reading as much as I do one day. Have a wonderful day...
VROOM VROOM!

AllStar Addie

Our niece, Addie, had a basketball game Saturday morning in town and lots of the family went to see her play. This is her first year playing and she did a great job! She is one aggressive player. It was hard for me to get pictures of her because she was constantly moving. Addie's dad, Eric, is her coach.

She's #12

I love this shot of her. The rockets won 22 to 13. Miss Addie had 6 of the team's points!

Uncle John and Aunt Karen came.

Here's Stephanie, Isaiah and Eric.

And Grandma & Grandpa E.

We loved watching you play ,Addie, and enjoyed spending time with everyone.

Oh, sugar, we love you...I think...

Oh, sugar...
Oh, our waistlines...
Oh, bliss...
I asked Brian what he wanted me to make for him and he said, "A white cake with white frosting and blue or red letters that say 'Happy Birthday, Brian'! Well, I was able to deliver all but the "Brian".
He also said a Texas Sheet Cake would be nice. (Aron, please cover your eyes.) So, my mom made him a Texas sheet cake.

And, I guess I wasn't thinking about all of the sweets and I picked him up some chocolate covered almonds and chocolate covered marshmallow bunnies. Two of his favorite sugar items. We are on sugar overload out here. The next time you see us, we may look a little different! :)

There's a Birthday at our house today...

Brian's #@$**@^!% Birthday is today! I'm not telling how old he is because then you might be able to guess my age too! All I can tell you is that he MUST be several years older than me because his baby picture is in black and white and mine is in color! He was born on this 20th day of February.

I'm not sure how Brian would tell his story, so I'll do the best I can with the information I've been told and the resources I've been given.

He was the first baby boy born in 2 generations (I think) on his mom's side. So needless to say, he was a little, tiny, teeny bit spoiled. Did I mention he was just a tad spoiled by his parents, Grandparents, and aunts and uncles?
Here he is with big sis, Stephanie.

with Grandpa H.

with Grandpa E.

Check Spelling

He grew up in a very loving family with his dad, mom, and sister.

He had it hard during his teenage years because (from what I've been told) the girls just couldn't resist him!

Finally, he married the girl of his dreams on Oct. 7, 2002...

Then the most amazing thing happened almost 7 years later. We went from being a couple to being a FAMILY. Isaiah was born Sept. 19, 2009.

This is Brian's first birthday as a "dad". And, a wonderful father he is. I can't write or say with words how happy my heart and soul is when I see our son light up and smile when he sees his daddy. Please never stop singing to us!
Happy Birthday, honey. We love you!

Wonderful Weekend

Here are some pics of Isaiah. He has really been moving around a lot. He does it very gradually so it would take forever to video. He rolls from side to side. He's been cracking us up. He wants to touch everything he sees and fusses if you don't let him. So,...
He started here

Worked and wiggled to here

And we picked him up here. Didn't want him to roll around on the hardwood!

Grace stayed over Saturday night. Brian had a UK game that night and work on Sunday. Grace brought her penguin pajamas so we had to change Isaiah into his so they could match. I was feeling a little left out, but then we spied penguins on my slipper socks that Lori sent me for Christmas!

Isaiah rounded out Heart Day weekend by spending some time with his Great Grandma H. and his Grandma & Grandpa E. They cooked dinner for us (along with Great Uncle John & Great Aunt Karen-they were sick so they couldn't make it) it was delicious!
FYI: He doesn't have his pants on b/c
Grandpa E. had a roaring fire keeping us all toasty warm!

Liar, Liar

Today was Isaiah's four month well-baby visit. He's 20 weeks old, so I've been putting it off. All this debate and information overload on vaccines--well, I went ahead with his vaccines today-all of them. He was drinking some of them and helping to hold the little container it was in. He liked it and wanted more when he was finished. I can't help but to be standing there thinking, what if in this moment there is something entering my baby's body that will destroy or damage something God has made?!? Here in this moment, when Isaiah is so happy and content drinking his grape flavored vaccine.
Our pediatrician is a firm believer in vaccines. She listened to what I had to say and answered my questions, but she stated that the vaccines present a very small risk compared to the risk of not being vaccinated. She also thought that since he has already had 2 doses of everything and not had any adverse reactions that that is a sign that the vaccinations are not harming him. I guess only time will tell. I'm just saying little prayers that God will guide me to the BEST choices for Isaiah and He will protect him. Please say a little prayer too. I'm really letting this consume my thoughts and my day. I just want to enjoy this "free" day I have with Isaiah!
Oh, I guess I need to get to the Liar, Liar part.

At sign-in time they give you this questionnaire to complete. The past two visits I've finished it with pride and glee thinking, check, MY BABY can do that, check, MY BABY is well advanced for his age, check, you know how it goes...

Well, today I had to selected "No".
Yes, I did. It's an unfortunate truth.
Then I found myself thinking that these questionnaires are too nosey. This is not for medical purposes, this is just comparing babies. I don't want to compare MY BABY! I was honest and checked that Isaiah is not holding his chest off the ground with his arms or rolling over. Next, I start thinking, well maybe he's too hefty or maybe I need to stop doing everything for him. But, he is just a baby. Round and round. Justify or make an excuse. Funny how my mind races and rambles and quickly comes to defense regarding my son. (Is there a little Jackie in me?)
And, as our doctor enters I start talking about how I know he's behind. Yada yada yada. In the meantime, the doctor is examining Isaiah and low and behold--HE ROLLED OVER! So little and already making a liar out of his excuse-making momma! As soon as he did it, I found myself asking the doctor, "Does that count?" "Did he just roll over?" I was in disbelief and shock. I wasn't expecting it and was very proud and kind of let down because his daddy wasn't there to see it too. Wow, this post is way too long. I'm stopping now. I'll leave you with some pics of our handsome baby, who is now 26 inches long and 15lbs. 12oz. Gracing the 75th percentile. Hope they make your day brighter!
