Isaiah, hair cut and faces of...

Here are some pics of Isaiah's haircut. His great aunt Karen cut it. She did a fabulous job. He didn't sit still the entire time. Thanks, Aunt Karen!
I also posted some pics of some of his faces. It's been a little difficult to get pics b/c he's moving around so much. I sat with the camera off and on three or four different times this day. Look for his two teeth in the ones with his mouth open.
sucking his thumb,

aww, so sad

LOVE IT!

his pucker lip "face"

Why Isaiah Got His First Haircut

I have to break this up into two posts b/c of the amount of pics. These first ones are of his hair before the cut.
See it over his left ear?

And, over his right ear? He's not too happy about it either. This is after we have already trimmed over only his ears twice!

His long bangs...

See all the long fly-aways? They are gone now, thanks to aunt Karen!

Grace, uninterrupted

Grace stayed all night with us. She is one thoughtful, hilarious, ornery,...individual. She makes us smile whenever we are around her with her antics. She would probably say, "What antics?"
I was telling Brian a secret and he wasn't listening (I picked the perfect time)! Only problem was, Grace was listening. Brian asked me what I said and I told him I wasn't going to say it again. Brian looked at Grace and asked her. She held her ground and said she wasn't telling. I was so proud of her! Then Brian said, "How about for some UDF ice cream?" Grace spilled the beans quicker than I could blink my eyes. We'll get back to this story a little later, but before we went to UDF, we went for a walk. Grace picked me a flower.
She then found a salamander and picked it up to take back to our pond. I think it's a blue spotted salamander or a Jefferson's salamander. Not quite sure. The next few pics are of her and the salamander.

Then we headed to UDF. When we were walking in, I said I thought we might be stuck in there for a while b/c of a dark angry cloud. We were. It started POURING! I didn't take my camera in b/c I didn't think we would be in there long, so no pics of ice cream. While we were in there, the electric flashed a few times. When Brian went to pay the machine that takes debit cards wasn't working. We had to go across town in the rain to get cash. We were teasing Grace telling her it was all her fault and she would giggle and smile. Here's a pic of Brian trying to wait for the rain to let up or get up the courage to run through it, not sure which.

We always enjoy having Grace over. She keeps us entertained! Just for Grace, "What's up Dog?"

Oh, and this was taken on the way to set the salamander free...like my new do? hehe

Getting Shellacked

so, i'm so excited. at the salon where i had my hair cut, they have new nail polish for real nails. it's called shellac and it lasts two weeks. i can't wait to try it. i've been waiting my whole teen/adult life for something like this. i have always been able to grow nails, but don't like the time spent removing and repainting after only a day or two of wear. yeah!

Fun in the Sun

So we did a little swimming tonight. I hope to have lots of swimming pics this summer. I think Carissa, Owen, Kyla, Danielle, Samuel, and the Woollard Crew and us will be getting together soon.
Here's a pic of the swimming crew (Alyssa took--she didn't swim). This is what we look like normally.

And, this is us when we control ourselves!
Grace was cheating in both of the above pics. If you look closely you can see the top of her head and the top of her goggles. Well, she may regret it because here's one of ONLY her! What a bathing beauty even with her goggles on.

This one I included, because if you look carefully, you'll see Isaiah's two bottom teeth.

Some more pics of fun in the sun! We were missing Grandma Jackie-she was still helping aunt Stephanie move.

Tomorrow I'm getting my hair chopped off-YIKES! You may not see any more pics of me depending on how it turns out. Isaiah will be getting his first "real" haircut this week too. He's had the hair above his ears trimmed, but it is so time for an all over cut.

Quick Get Away

So, we went on a short road trip over Memorial Day. Short both in stay and in distance. We went to Springfield-not far from where we used to live and visited some of our favorite places. We even drove to Columbus and went past our first home and visited the mall where we used to do all of our shopping. We went with mom and dad. The trip was for the guys to golf and we made it into a little get away for everyone. Aron and Erica and the kids met up with us the second night. We didn't get to spend too much time with them as Erica and the kids had to get back for her mom's retirement party--here, not in MI.
We went to Young's--they have the best coffee. Mmmm, I think we'll make another trip this year for that alone. You know, we ran out of time and didn't get any ice cream. We also didn't make it to Yellow Springs. Isaiah loves Ike and Killer and all the cows and ducks around here. We knew the petting zoo would be a hit.
The goats with snotty noses...YUCK!

This jersey calf kept licking Isaiah's foot.
Then off for a hike...Isaiah was so sleepy, but he stays awake for the outdoors!

Daddy packed him on this hike.

There's a trickle of a waterfall behind us...look carefully.

Isaiah doing one of his favorite things...pulling hair. This time it was Grandma Jackie's! OUCH!

Mother's Day

So, I have to update you...so much has happened since we've been off line. Here's just a few things. These are listed in order of occurrence, not importance!
1. Mother's Day
2. This old gravel road has been black topped. So nice. No dust and so stroller friendly!
3. Quick weekend get away (pics soon)
4. School's OUT for summer
5. Isaiah's first tooth came through on May 29th and his second tooth on June 4th
6. Isaiah went swimming for the first time and LOVED it
7. Isaiah went up Buzzard's Roost Rock
I'll start the pics with mom's day. It may be my new favorite holiday. We had a wonderful day. The cards and gifts are wonderful, but I think being a mom is the best. My mom is the greatest. She was and is a living example of a perfect mom, really. Ask around--there are women who are not my mom's (just around her enough to be WOW-ed) who want to emulate my mom's "mom-ness". I hope her example and her genes rubbed off on me. I want to be the same kind of mom she was and is to me. Enjoy the pics.

reminds me of his daddy in this one

so adorable...
